Sophia Rose Riopel

Sophie Rose Riopel, a 11th-grader at Phillips Exeter Academy and a Rye, NH, resident, is a prolific artist, musician, singer, science lover, and competitive, year-round athlete. She passionately enjoys painting, acting in musical repertory theatre, playing eight instruments—jazz saxophone, classical piano, cello, and others—and competing in four sports at the club and school levels—lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and tennis. She has won numerous art and writing awards, enjoys reading and writing poetry, and is thrilled to be a Managing Editor and Art/Design Editor with a great team of editors for Under the Madness Magazine.

A magazine for teen writers—by teen writers. Under the Madness brings together student editors from across New Hampshire under the mentorship of the state poet laureate to focus on the experiences of teens from around the world. Whether you live in Berlin, NH, or Berlin, Germany—whether you wake up every day in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North or South America—we’re interested in reading you!
